As you know, I love a bit of flash packing and last month a girl-friend and I went for a weekend in Paris with luxury being the name of the game. It had been my friends’ birthday the week before so we decided to belatedly celebrate it in one of my favourite cities in Europe and spared no expense on our 3 night break. Paris being such a city of high fashion, we packed our finest garments and agreed that we would, at all times, dress to kill as we hit some of Paris’ most luxurious activities, here are a few that we embarked on.
Start in Style
We began our trip in style with the transfer from the airport to our beautiful little boutique hotel. We had dressed to kill for our journey so getting a taxi from the airport didn’t quite seem like the right thing to do. With this in mind we decided to get a chauffeur driven car to the hotel and used a company called Blacklane. Our driver was happily waiting for us at arrivals and led us to a sleek black Audi with leather interior, this suited us far better for the beginning of our luxury weekend. As it happens the cost compared to a taxi really wasn’t that much more, I will definitely be using them again.
Champagne on the Seine
Now, there are a lot of tour boats that float down the River Seine giving you all the information you need about the sites on the riverbanks, but often these are on plastic seats with little headphones on and in the open air. That wasn’t for us, so we splashed out a bit (excuse the pun,) and booked ourselves on a glass topped luxury boat where we could enjoy oysters and champagne, sit on comfortable leather seats with a video tour taking place and no headphones in site! We had our own booth and waiter service for the full 2 hour journey, bliss.
Shop, Shop, Shop
Now usually going shopping wouldn’t exactly be considered a luxurious day out, however, in Paris, this isn’t the case. Me and my girl decided that on the Saturday of our trip, we would put our best dresses, heels and jewellery on and head to some of the finest boutiques that the city has to offer. Paris isn’t the home of fashion for no reason and all of the greatest and most sought after labels in the World have their headquarters here, so we headed down the Rue de Passy and window shopped until our heads exploded. We bought a few things here and there and made the most of the champagne that they offered to us as we tried on clothes that we could probably never afford.
During our time in Paris we stayed in a beautiful little boutique hotel, I love using these as they offer the same service as any of the big chain hotels, but in smaller surroundings and with amazing decor. Paris is absolutely crammed with these wonderful little hotels and if you want a little bit of glamour along with your great service then get online and search for boutique hotels. They are often a bit cheaper than the bigger hotels as well, but when you’re inside, you’d never be able to tell.
